You Should Log In To ‘Destiny 2’ For Guardian Games For Two Reasons

If you’re like me, you probably have set Destiny 2 down for a while to play well, anything else as this extended Season of the Wish drags on. I figured I’d be back to some extent for Guardians Games, but I was not expecting to be genuinely pretty excited to do so.

I think Bungie has been getting better at these holiday events with better weapons to pursue and actually good cosmetics like mementos. But this year’s Guardian Games? There are two things that I think are definitely going to be worth farming for this time around. One you get relatively quickly, one will take some grinding for a good roll.

The Skimmer (Hoverboard) – You probably already know about this if you have been paying attention, but Guardian Games of all places is launchpad for Destiny 2’s first new type of vehicle…ever, which goes in the sparrow slot. It’s a hoverboard that lets you do tricks and grind on level geometry, and while there will of course be one for sale in Eververse, the second you can earn through the event itself.

It does not appear that you are going to need to do anything at all elaborate to get your first Skimmer. Bungie says that all you need to do is finish Eva Levante’s onboarding quest and you will get the Allstar Vector skimmer. That’s it, you don’t even have to do the whole medal grind. Worth logging in for that alone.

Hullabaloo (Edge Transit Evolved) – This is the new weapon for the event, a reskin of the famed Edge Transit that is a heavy arc wave from grenade launcher, a recently introduced new type of GL. Bungie has said that it has unique rolls like both Voltshot and Chain Reaction together.

It’s also important to keep in mind that a big heavy wave frame buff is coming as well. Its overall damage is getting increased by 20% against all types of enemies, and the wave width is getting increased by a whopping 40%, clearing out paths like never before, plus now with Chain Reaction on this thing. And GLs in general are getting a lot more reserve ammo. Perfect time to grab something like this.

There’s also a memento and good armor you can get for Bright Dust. Plus better rolls of old Guardian Games guns. But yeah, those two things alone feel worth the price of admission. Which is nothing, it’s free. I’ll be on as soon as I’m back from vacation.
