Destiny 2, Guardians, is back to being a good grind. Whether it’s Infamy (Gambit) Glory or Valour (non-competitive), it’s time to work in the ranks of each mode for dozens of hours. If you win many matches, it will be less, but still a grind. What makes it worse, however is that you don’t know where the ladder lies. You may certainly be at Heroic with your Valor, but where does the progress tree fall, how far do you have to go and how many points do you need? These questions are answered as clearly as possible below.

In total, there are six ranks of value for Guardians and three ranks each, except the final. Fortunately, Valor is an account-wide progression system so that when you play with all three different characters, you can gain value for your account. So it’s more than enough to make weekly bounties to get you through all ranks and be able to reset your value in a single season. In fact you can reset your value five times during double and triple value weeks and weekends, which is sufficient to unlock some of the Pinnacle weapons.

Like the Infamy ranking system of Gambit, Valor has six major levels and three subgrades, except the final rank, Legend. It’s not uncommon for Bungie to host events awarding an additional XP, meaning that a patient Guardian could wait until Bungie produces two (or three) XP, followed by six Valor ranks in a single week. That’s too much Crucible for my liking in a short time, though.
