Highlights
- Buildcrafting has become a major part of Destiny 2’s gameplay loop, with Bungie actively promoting new and interesting builds through updates and expansions.
- Season of the Wish reworked 20 Destiny 2 Exotics, improving some Titan Exotics and giving a massive buff to a Warlock Exotic (Apotheosis Veil).
- Apotheosis Veil is now a top contender for the best DPS meta in the game, particularly when used with Well of Radiance or Needlestorm Supers, and it will be even stronger with the upcoming expansion and new Supers.
Despite it not being a top priority for Bungie back when Destiny 2 was released in 2017, buildcrafting has slowly but surely become a big draw of the gameplay loop and the overall experience in recent years. Not only are builds front and center of the looter-shooter now, but Bungie actively promotes making new and interesting ones with every release thanks to both the many items added with seasons and expansions and the multiple changes to the sandbox. Season of the Wish reworked 20 Destiny 2 Exotics, and although it didn’t add a new one for all three classes, there’s a case to be made for one of them to become a new meta pick.
Destiny 2 is not always only flowers and rainbows on the buildcrafting side of things. For example, Season of the Wish may have gone overboard with nerfs on Titans, but at the same time, a few old Titan Exotics got some much-deserved love and they can finally find their place in the meta. On the other hand, Warlocks didn’t get a lot of meaningful Exotic changes, with the Ballidorse Wrathweavers possibly becoming less powerful and unique or Felwinter’s Helm only getting a bump up in the size of its weakening burst. However, another Warlock Exotic got a massive buff, and it’s both very powerful now and likely OP with The Final Shape.
Destiny 2’s Best Reworked Exotics for Each Class in Season of the Wish Explained
Destiny 2 features over 100 unique Exotic armor pieces, and with Season of the Wish reworking 20, there are some for each class that are now great.

How Apotheosis Veil Was Changed in Season 23
Among some of the reworked Exotics in Season of the Wish is Apotheosis Veil, which had never been particularly good before and was widely considered one of the worst Exotics in Destiny 2. And yet, Apotheosis Veil is now a top contender for the best DPS meta in the game thanks to the way its effect was changed.

Apotheosis Veil in Season of the Wish |
Immediately regenerate health, melee, grenade, and Rift energy upon activating your Super. Nearby allies recharge class abilities faster. |
Casting your Super now grants Cure Tier 3 for you and nearby allies. After your Super ends, you now temporarily gain greatly increased melee and grenade regen for 8 seconds. |
What this does is add a new layer to the item that makes it a great mainstay Exotic, and an even better one if swapped in during DPS phases. Before, players only immediately got full melee, grenade, and class ability energy after using their Super, which wasn’t worth the slot. Now, Apotheosis Veil can help melt bosses in Destiny 2 by giving melee and grenade regen for 8 seconds after a Super, making it incredibly powerful when used with Well of Radiance for Solar or Needlestorm for Strand.
Both Well of Radiance and Needlestorm are already among the best Supers in the game with the best subclasses in Destiny 2, and Apotheosis Veil now potentially makes both even stronger. Not only that, but players can combo this Exotic with other buildcrafting tools to further make those 8 seconds of increased regeneration count, such as with the Ashes to Assets and Hands-On mods to regain their Super faster.
Why Apotheosis Veil Could Be OP in The Final Shape
However, what truly makes Apotheosis Veil a must-have Exotic is that it will be amazing with The Final Shape. Destiny 2‘s The Final Shape will add three new Supers to the game – one for Void Titans, one for Solar Warlocks, and one for Arc Hunters. Solar Warlocks are getting a Super called Song of Flame, which will essentially provide a long-lasting buff to Solar weapon damage, tracking grenades, and double-projectiles on melee attacks. All of this, combined with 8 more seconds of increased grenade and melee regen after the Super ends, will likely make Solar Warlocks incredibly strong on day one and beyond.
