It’s Your Last Chance For ‘Destiny 2’ Dawning Cash And Prizes

While this article is only going to be good for the next few hours until daily reset at 12 PM ET, I figured I would try to get it out there all the same.

Destiny 2’s The Dawning event ends at noon, and you will lose almost all your currencies and the potential to earn a bunch of stuff if you fail to cash it in now. Among the things to remember:

Baked Cookies – This spends ingredients from fallen enemies and Essence of Dawning. These get you often crappy Legendary gear, but also Gifts in Return, which are more valuable.

Gifts in Return – These, when opened, can get you a different upgrades materials, a lot of XP and the limited time Dawning memento that looks like ice. You can only hold one of these at a time (unless you max out your inventory and get one at each of your postmasters) so if you care about using them, turn in those gifts and apply them now. There are also cookie delivering bounties that award Bright Dust.

Dawning Spirit – You will also need Gifts in Return to focus Dawning weapons, along with Dawning Spirit which you get from bounties or ingredient drops if you have the right ship. With new perks, there are actually a surprising amount of decent weapons, including new rolls for Glaciochasm and Avalanche that are quite good, and the new glaive, Albedo Wing, which is worth picking up a copy or two.

If you’ve been playing a lot, it may genuinely be just too much work to spend hundreds of even thousands of currency before the event is over. There’s nothing too valuable in here, I suppose, but I do enjoy some rolls of the weapons, I’ll never say no to more materials and a handful of the mementos look good on some weapons, albeit not as good as the Festival of the Lost memento did.

I will say I think Destiny 2’s seasonal events are improving. Well, let me rephrase that, the rewards for seasonal events are improving, not so much the events themselves (snowballs have been broken all three weeks of The Dawning). At least now we are getting a big enough pool of weapons with good enough perks to be useful. And I do enjoy the new idea of getting mementos from the events, as even if they are sort of going back to the days of consumable shaders, at least they’re something to go for if they look cool enough.

Anyway, you have uh, three hours from the time I’m publishing this. I’m not 100% sure everything goes away, but Eva will for sure for focusing, so don’t take the chance.
